Our accordionist, flute player, singer etc Kristofer Yffén has recently left Salamander due to time constraints.

We thank him for a fun and creative cooperation and welcome our new member - our good friend and colleague Emil Pernblad, who will be playing Irish bouzouki and guitar! Emil is known mostly as one of Sweden's foremost flamenco musicians, but he has also delved into Celtic and Arabic traditional music as well as Latin American music and jazz during his long and multifaceted career.

Our mutual history goes back a long way. Salamander's fiddle player Jonas Liljeström and Emil Pernblad have known each other since their teenage years and they played in the band Celtic Connections in the early 90s, and since 2010 both Emil, Jonas and Salamander's vocalist Marita Johansson are members of the group Krilja.

Welcome, Emil!

On the 5th of August Salamander performed in Ytterlännäs Old Church, a fascinating 12th century church north of Kramfors in the north of Sweden. It was an exciting experience, and the church was undoubtedly one of the most beautiful venues we've ever performed in! Here is a video with some of the highlights of the concert.

We express our deepest gratitude to the cantor Ignatia Folcker for hiring us to perform at the church, and for treating us with flawless hospitality!

More information about the Ytterlännäs Old Church and its history can be found here.

On Saturday 5th of August Salamander will perform in Ytterlännäs Gamla Kyrka, a marvelously beautiful 13th century church 13 kilometres north of Kramfors in the north of Sweden. The church is renowned for its opulent frescoes, and fascinating objects from across Medieval Europe can be found among its interiors - among others, a Byzantine doorknocker from the 9th century in the shape of a lion's head, possibly brought back to Scandinavia by a Viking.

We are delighted to be given the opportunity to perform in this beautiful environment which, much like our repertoire, reflects the ancient and the modern. This will also be the last concert with our dear member and friend David Odlöw who has worked with us since Salamander was founded seven years ago, but it is also the beginning of something new and exciting when David is replaced by the equally fantastic multi-instrumentalist Kristofer Yffén.

The concert starts at 6 PM and admission is free. You are very welcome!

Our member David Odlöw has decided to leave Salamander due to time constraints. We thank him for almost 7 years of fruitful cooperation, and welcome his successor Kristofer Yffén (accordeon, mandolin, bouzouki, flute and much more). Kristofer is a graduate of the Academy of Music and Drama at the University of Gothenburg and is a brilliant musician with a broad experience of various folk/world music styles as well as early music, and we look forward to working with him!
